Did you know that Moor Allerton School was founded back in 1914? That makes 2014 our hundredth anniversary!

We will be marking this landmark centenary year with a programme of celebrations throughout  the academic year 2013/14, details of which we will be telling you about over the forthcoming months.

One of the key activities is the creation of a Centenary website created by the school and the PTA to a) chart the history of the school; b) present a snapshot of the school at this point in time; and c) create ‘living archive’ to which future pupils, staff and parents will be able to contribute for years to come – a celebration of Moor Allerton past, present and future and this is where you can help.

We are looking for all types of contributions from people connected to the school… from current and former pupils, parents of pupils, friends of Moor Allerton and staff members…

These could take the form of photographs, school reports, programmes of events, correspondence, newspaper clippings, drawings, artwork or pages from exercise books… whatever may be out there… the more diverse the better, in order to build up a fascinating collection.

We will welcome stories, recollections and memories of time spent at the school – written, audio and even video.

We’ll initially be collecting and displaying these items on the Facebook site, and once we get into 2014, we’ll be creating a specific, interactive website to which people will be able to send their contributions to directly.

We’ll be posting examples from the school’s archive currently being digitised as part of this project. We have some really interesting stuff, but we’re sure there’s even more fascinating bits and pieces out there.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a scanner or digital camera to capture your images and artefacts, or have the means of recording your contributions. If you get in touch with us via a message from this Facebook page or by dropping an email to [email protected] then we’ll see how we can help.

This should turn out to be a very exciting project and the more people are involved, the better it will be, so please ‘Like’ the Facebook page and posts and check out our Twitter feed twitter.com/MoorAllertonPTA and spread the word. If you know any friends of the school who maybe don’t have web access or don’t use the social networking channels, let them know and encourage them to get involved.
